A THIRD HAND WINS
SHIRE OF MANSFIELD AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD 'COMMUNITY EVENT OF THE YEAR 2018'
FOR THE MANSFIELD HALF MARATHON AND FUN RUN
In late 2011 a group of like-minded people came together and took over the running of the Mansfield Fun Run from Geelong Grammar Timbertop Campus and under the auspices of 'The High Country Angels.' The fun run was a great success and raised over $6,000 for the Mansfield Hospital. The group enjoyed meeting regularly once a week and had many social occasions together, either at one of the local restaurants or hotels or at the home of a member. In January 2012 the group decided that we would like to do other things to help our community.
A decision was then made to incorporate so the group would be recognised officially by the community and ensure that matters such as public liability insurance and bank accounts could be addressed.
In April 2012, with 17 members, we were successful in registering the name "A THIRD HAND VOLUNTEERS INC." which we think epitomises who we are and what we do.
